Customs import regime (IM40) in Uzbekistan

Import regime IM40 is the main way to import goods into Uzbekistan for free circulation. It applies when cargo is purchased for sale, production or own use within the country.

When it is used

  • Import of goods for subsequent sale in the Uzbekistan market
  • Import of raw materials, components and equipment for production
  • Import of goods for the company's own needs
  • Transfer of cargo from ND40 regime to IM40 after obtaining permits

What is the difference between IM40 and ND40?

IM40 releases goods into free circulation. ND40 is a partial declaration that lets you move cargo to a warehouse before permits are obtained, after which an IM40 declaration is filed.

What payments are required under IM40?

Customs duty, excise tax (if excisable), VAT and customs clearance fees. The exact amount is calculated after determining the HS code and country of origin.

Can IM40 be cleared without a contract?

A contract is mandatory for commercial shipments. For personal cargo of individuals, clearance follows a simplified procedure based on the invoice and transport documents.
